Fictional career discussion example

Considering a new role? Find the information your decision needs.

  1. 01

    Your choice

Stay in a familiar operations role or move into a role with more client interaction?

  2. 02

    Compare together

Clarify what you want to change, then compare actual responsibilities, transferable skills, and constraints.

  3. 03

    Investigate next

Confirm the responsibilities with the hiring team, examine relevant experience, and update your comparison.

Discuss your next step in the language you need.

Sessions can be held in English, Mandarin, or Cantonese. If you choose English, you can clarify your career direction while practicing how to explain your experience and thinking. Where useful, follow-up AI reflection and practice can also be in English.

How lessons work

Turn an unclear idea
into a next step you can test.

  1. 01

    Clarify the question

Identify whether the priority is an interview, management communication or a career choice. Clarify the deadline, audience and constraints.

  2. 02

    Review your experience

Organize responsibilities, decisions and results. Separate your contribution, team outcomes and information that still needs confirmation.

  3. 03

    Compare and communicate

Consider questions from an interviewer, manager or cross-functional partner. Practice explaining your reasoning and value clearly.

  4. 04

    Choose a next step

Define an actionable research, preparation or practice task, then adjust as new information becomes available.

Steps adapt to your needs and the time available; not every lesson covers every step.

Map your experience

Move from “I did this”
to “Here is how I decided.”

Identify the choices and evidence in your experience before deciding what the audience needs to hear.

Turn responsibilities into a credible professional account
What you didCoordinated delivery across two departments
How you decidedCompared deadlines, dependencies and resources
What supports itMeeting records, agreed scope and actual delivery
Enough evidenceExplain your contribution through specific actions and verifiable results.
Evidence still missingKeep uncertainty explicit. Find records or ask questions; do not turn assumptions into achievements.

About Michael

Connect career choices
to experience and judgment.

I'm Michael Ho, known as Michael H. on AmazingTalker. In career coaching, I first explore the choice you are facing: preparing for an interview, changing roles, or handling management and cross-functional communication. We then identify experience worth examining in more depth.

When reviewing an experience, I ask: What were the constraints? What decisions did you make? What evidence supports the result? Analysis and rehearsal help turn what you did into capabilities and trade-offs others can understand.

Your career direction is your decision. I help you compare options, identify information gaps and turn the discussion into action.

Your first lesson

Bring a question.
You do not need a finished answer.

Bring a resume, a difficult workplace conversation or a proposal for your manager. Start with one question: what does the interviewer not yet understand, or what decision does the manager need to make?

Confirm the first session's length, available tools and arrangements before booking.

How can I tell which experience will transfer to a new industry?

Start with two target roles and compare their requirements. Identify evidence of existing capabilities, gaps to address and assumptions to test. Bring your resume and job descriptions to compare options and plan the next step.

I have just become a manager. How should I communicate with my boss and team?

Bring a recent situation. We clarify expectations, responsibilities and constraints, then practice agreeing priorities, requesting resources and giving specific feedback.

Which subject should I book for startup coaching?

Startup coaching is available within Career Counseling and can cover business-model validation, partnership trade-offs and pitching. See the Startup Coaching page, then mention your current stage and question when booking.

Can I join if I have not decided whether to change jobs?

Yes. We can review your situation, reasons for wanting change and missing information before deciding whether action is needed.

Do sessions have to be in English?

No. We can use English, Mandarin or Cantonese. For English interviews, presentations or international communication, we adapt the language to the situation.

Will you rewrite my entire resume for me?

A resume can be a discussion tool. We first check that it is specific, credible and relevant to your goal. Agree the scope and time for complete document editing before booking.

Will I get a job after taking the course?

That cannot be guaranteed. Sessions help you organize information, prepare your message and plan next steps. Hiring also depends on vacancies, experience and employers' decisions.
